Changed my mind

Well, in the end, I went running instead :-) Aaah, so good to feel my muscles again. Been ages since I last went running! I've had a backache lately because I've been sitting more than usual of course, studying and all. Felt a huge urge to exercise today, so I grabbed 'em running shoes and off I went. Did about 5km I'd say. And now I'm feeling it man, oh yes. Maybe I should have done a bit less for starters, after such a long running break. I also need a new mp3-player, mine is crap. I need to push the insert of my headphones into the mp3-player in a very particular angle, otherwise I won't hear anything in my right ear. So annoying to go running like that.
Just fell asleep in front of the TV after stretching and doing some Yoga. Felt so good :-) But something must have been wrong with those small springrolls I had at Plaine de Plainpalais after watching the Germany vs. Argentina game. I'm feeling quite sick to my stomache. Not a good idea to eat springrolls one hour before running either, Carissa. At least now, I'm in "good shape" for studying all day again tomorrow! And will keep up running to stay healthy during my tough last months at university.

Hey Carissa I am proud of you! Doing sports always needs a lot of motivation, but once you went there it feels sooooo good! Doesn't it? Today, I had a really really bad day with my thesis! No motivation at all, my results are bad, don't get the stuff done, have the feeling that I won't get it done until september! Only two months left!
then I went and did some sports and it felt great! Best thing to do against depressions and the shape of our bodies! I know exactly what you mean by losing university kilos or something like that! Don't even want to know about what I ate all day, LOL!
Hey, and when are we going to Montreux? Forgot the date, LOL!

Before talking about being happy, I need to get something of my chest. I am so angry right now!!! Four reasons:

1. Argentina players insulted our players during the penalty shoot-out and all throughout the game (hijo de luna etc.). Damn, I don´t speak Spanish and even I could lip-read that word all throughout the game.

2. After the game, they PHYSICALLY attacked German players. You maybe saw it on TV. One player even got kicked in the GROIN!!! WHAT?!

3. Their comments about the game are ridiculous. I have not often heard post-game comments that lack a sens of wanting to lose in dignity. Nah, chauvinism and arrogance and being assholey show themselves in almost all the comments.

4. The Argentina fans at Plainpalais equally constantly insulted us in Spanish (thinking we would not understand ...) and then even threw stones at us!!! One of them hit me on the head!!!

And yes, I understand the frustration of playing a great game and ending up losing, but such immature, agressive, ridiculous behaviour is uncalled for! Well, at least the player who kicked got a red card even though the game was finished. Serves him right!!!

About the game: Lots of people said before the game that it would kind of be like a final. And it was. Such drama, such heartache, such fear of losing, such bouncing back. I shook, I cried, I yelled, I kneeled, I jumped - it was soccer heaven and hell, all in one. And when Oliver Kahn went up to Jens Lehmann to encourage him before the penalties, I really just lost it. It is hard to understand the beauty of this moment if you have not followed the internal German soccer drama, but to me this was like the climax of an incredible play.

From the start, this World Cup has been so much more than soccer to us: it´s about a nation (re)gaining confidence in itself, a young team showing incredible spirit and perseverance and a will to never give up, a coach following his dream and vision no matter what, it´s about Schwarz Rot Gold and a country in ecstasy. And that is why, dammit, we so deserve this victory - and of course because we have an incredible goalkeeper (and hell yes, he IS cute!) and players that are able to remain cold as ice and put the round in the square ;-), even under incredible pressure. Luck my ass!!!

You are fantastic, Jungs!

The experience of a lifetime. Thanks for being there, Carissa :-).

- Aw, Sue hun', thanks girl !! Yeah, I'm shocked everytime I look at my student ID with a photo of myself in 2001 when I started university. I must be like 8kg lighter! :-s But I'm confident that I will loose that all again ;-) And I'm sure that I'll have similar struggles like you with MY thesis this Summer, yikes. But I'm sure you're doing a great job with your thesis, keep it up! :) And if not in Summer, then I'll loose weight AFTER my studies, LOL
Doing sports really hasn't been part of my AIESEC-time, which is bad. It's so important to exercise and to stay in shape, right? :) We're going to Montreux on July 8 (darn, are we going to miss a semi-final? LOL) Can't wait!! Oh, and apparently today, Aïda is having a meeting with our NST Alumni successor, Sam. We need to work on transition as soon as possible. Remember that we wanted to do in it June, but then we said we'd do it after exams here? Well, I guess Samantha's exams are over, my last one is TUE. Let's see if we can make it next week (my next week is terribly packed, but maybe Friday or Thursday could work for me. Or Saturday during the day?)

Gros bisous!

- Anna sweetie: I saw it on TV what happened afterwards. Sad, isn't it? But don't forget that a soccer team and soccer team isn't = ALL Argentina. It's hard at first, of course. You can imagine how angry I was with Turkey after what happened with the Swiss team after the world cup qualification game in their country. A disgrace. Their team got blocked for four games I think, and can only play those on neutral grounds. Well, but I can't generalize. But I know that many people in Turkey are STILL angry at us because we beat them (it wasn't a penalty shootout). And many Swiss are angry at them because of what happened in that stadium afterwards. Still, I don't think it's good to generalize. Could be hard at first, I mean, that lady who threw the stones last night was standing right behind me and I saw her do it! I was quite shocked too, I must say! That's a no-go! After the game, I even saw a huge beer keg (I hope the damn thing was empty!!) flying from the Argentinian side to the German supporters! Luckily, it didn't hit anybody, that thing was HUGE! It fell next to one of those young kids from the German school :-s As for what soccer is doing for Germany now: I think it's fantastic!! Still think it's great for Germany as a country :-) Germany can sure use the confidence and identity boost I think...

And obviously I meant about 8kg lighter in 2001 and not now! LOL

Exactly! And no worries, I am not generalizing, but I was quite outraged by the things that actually happened.

Bisous :-)

Sure, I get it :-) And it's quite clear that you were outraged, I would have been too...glad that stone didn't hit your eye :-s

It was great fun, though, wasn't it? :-) Incredible how soccer so easily connects random people!

When we watched the game Ukraine vs. Italy yesterday, the mood was fantastic and those homeless made us laugh a lot and the fans were great. But there were also some two stupid Ukrainians that got pissed at each goal and would kick some cup into the crowd of Italian fans, or do some "arm signs" on them. Fortunately Italians were fine and accepted more like the other funny Ukrainians who would constantly challenge them with funny shouts.

But it is really sad how two idiots can manage to spoil an imagine of a country -- that sometimes it is so difficult to think the two do not represent the nation. I was really sorry to see that, as I obviously cheered for Ukraine.

Yeah, it was fun with you guys :-)

Mart'a, I can imagine that the atmosphere there must have been a lotta fun :-D But sad sad sad...some people can always ruin it. And it's just a sport that's so full of emotions, that's why. But as long as we don't forget that those people don't represent their entire country, we're fine :-) Actually, I was for the Ukraine too yesterday! And gosh, Shevtchenko (how do you write that in English? LOL) is one good-looking man hahaha...but I must say: The Italian team looks really good too ;-) Ah, girls talking about soccer LOL

hahah, yep, girls watching soccer... or rather the crowds around for some good-looking guy that might sit close by?! :o)))

I cant wait to get the photo of the little Ukrainian girl to post it on my blog. You will see the cutest fan ever. She was sooo incredible and yet ;o) a girl. :o)). I think that says a lot. Her mum, during the last game, was kneeling on the cobblestones for 45 minutes in prayer, to have her soccer team players win. What great fans come from one family :o).

Regarding Schevchenko, hmmm, I saw the name a lot of times. There were also several guys running around with jersey that held his name... yet... the real spelling is still hidden from me... hahah. Ok, googled it... and neither of us were right :o) -- Shevchenko (but we would have made it right together... :o)))

LOL, Mart'a, yeah, at least we got it right together ;-) Can't wait to see the pictures! Wow, she was praying on her knees....that's a devoted fan :-D

On another note: I think Chiara might be angry with me, not having been for Argentina yesterday :-s Chiara honey, but Italy made it, yeeeaahhh!!! :-) Yeah, I know, I was being with the underdog for that game (Ukraine, even though they beat us), cuz it would have been cool to have a "surprise" in the semi-finals LOL But it's also cool that it looks like it's the big soccer nations who will make it to the semi-finals! And: Italy has the best-looking team as a whole :-) Even though Shevchenko (he only looks good with short hair) beats everyone else, but he's the only goodlooking one of his team LOL

Yeah, a pity isn't it, Mart'a? LOL I think I wouldn't mind watching Shevchenko running alone on a soccer field during 90 min, hahaha ! And they could even make it slow-motion, maybe even better LOL ;-) And I know that la barbare allemande nr. 1 thinks the same way too ;-)
